Twilight of the Buffies

Edisode 3: New Worlds
Written by Belle

The Buffies Previously on Episode 2
"Are thy wings plumed indeed for such far flights?" - Walt Whitman

"OK everyone, you know what we have to do, Meg get your girls together, get weapons, we have a fight on our hands!" shouts Josh.

The Buffies are already running for their equipment, they were ready for the tsunami but no one had thought of this. "We don't have time for Cuttiepie" shouts Meg "grab your stuff and let's head for the seafront. Gawd knows how she has survived, I feel this is going to be one of our toughest battles yet".

"Where the hell is Belle" asks Josh, "we don't have time for this - ok everyone go! go! go! - time is running out".

The Buffies run out of the mansion as tho' their life depends on it, which it probably does, and head for the seafront, vaulting over traffic stalled in the jams and knocking down anything which gets in their way - lamp post or high rise, it's all the same to them, pavements and roads crumble to dust under their feet as they run, they must get to Kat before she comes ashore.

The Buffies gather at the seafront behind a breakwater, and ready their weapons for the assault - Kat's path is going to take her right to the property where the family are holed up.

"What's that" asks Diana - in the far distance a small bright diamond of light shimmers, growing slowly larger as it approaches. "It's Belle, it must be, it's Belle" shouts Josh.

Charging towards them is a huge shining metal horse, thunderclaps rend the air and its diamond studded hooves pound hard as it gallops faster and faster thru the sky, the sun shines on its golden wings - astride its back wielding a Claymore sits a naked Belle, her blonde hair blowing in the slipstream, her honed body rippling with muscles, and they are heading straight for WildKat!

"Girls, I guess Belle could do with a diversion, right now!" says Meg.

"Diana, move quick and get that family into their truck, we will take on Kat in a full-on assault to distract her" says Meg. "There is something different about Kat, apart from still being alive", says Meg "take care". "Something about her head" says Diana "she's like a Medusa or something".

As Diana runs for the property, the Buffies leap the breakwater and begin their assault - weapons of unimaginable power blast Kat with beams of energy and rockets with warheads just short of nuclear smash into her, grenade launchers throw bombs which explode harmlessly against her scales. Kat moves towards the Buffies, the assault barely hindering her.

For a moment the diversion works, then Kat sees the fast approaching Belle.

Kat turns her green eyes towards Belle, and her mouth slowly opens.

But this time the few precious seconds count - Belle leans far out of her saddle as Dragonfly turns sideways to fly past Kat "Well I have fallen out of a few saddles before now but at least I was wearing a body protector" thinks Belle "this is my last chance . . . cut off the Gorgon's head is the way it goes".

She stretches her arm out as far as she can, and gripping the Claymore tight she heads for the giant neck of Kat. "Gawd I hope this sword is big enough" she thinks. As it hits the steel like scales of Kat's neck Belle's arm goes from hundreds of miles an hour to zero - her muscles respond to the enormous strain put on them and the weapon bites in - it starts to slice thru Kat's thick neck, Belle's wrist going in deep as she makes sure the sword has maximum effect - black blood burns her as the sword slices thru tendons like steel cables, muscles like living plastic and bone like re-inforced concrete - there is the stench of rotten flesh.

Belle's arm feels like it will be pulled from its socket and she grinds her teeth with the unbearable pain as her body screams in agony at the strain put on it, then suddenly - nothing. Belle is free.

"Gawd I hope my arm has not been pulled off" she thinks.

Dragonfly turns back and Belle sees Kat's head tumble slowly away like some crazy cartoon - it bounces off the giant chest and falls towards the ground but it never reaches there - as it falls it crumbles to dust which blows away in the wind.

WildKat's carcass sways and begins to fall - "OK everyone take cover" shouts Josh as the Buffies scatter.

As the slain beast hits the ground WildKat bursts into a million fireflies which clear leaving no trace.

Belle lands Dragonfly on the seafront beside the cheering Buffies and slides down to the ground, sweat running off her toned body.

An old friend of Belle, Cel, Ace Reporter and Photographer for the 'Malibu Sentinel', is waiting for her. Cel is one of the old school (tho' he is not that old), reliable and dependable with a 'Press' ticket stuck in his hatband.

Cel gets his notebook and pencil out. "Well girl" he says to Belle "you have pulled some stunts in the past, but this beats them all. I have some questions for you."

"What is that creature?"

"This is my new friend, Dragonfly" Belle says "she needs a strong rider to control her - strong in mind and body".

"What happened to you, naked and looking like you have been in a war?"

"It's a long story" says Belle. "I lost my 'Buffie powers' but it was worth it" she laughs.

"Where did Dragonfly come from?"

"She came from beyond the stars, to teach us not to be afraid of the dark" Belle replies. "Now she just wants to go home".

Belle sees Josh and Nic in deep conversation - Josh walks across looking angry.

"Young lady, you have some explaining to do" he says.

"I'm guessing you are talking about Shed 9" Belle replies.

"What do you know about that?" Josh asks.

"It's a long story" says Belle.

Josh looks very angry.

"I'm guessing that it's empty now" Belle says.

"How did you get in and out without being seen?" Josh asks.

"It's a long story" says Belle.

A squadron of jet fighters arrives overhead.

"These aircraft will escort you to a secret Government establishment. I will send Cuttiepie to bring you back here" Josh tells Belle.

Belle mounts Dragonfly, and gets ready to go.

' are we going home . . .'

With a few beats of her wings Dragonfly rises into the air, and Belle guides her towards the jets.

"Auf Wiedersehen, Belle" shouts Diana.

Belle smiles - "Watch the skies" she shouts back.

Dragonfly passes the jets, and carries on upwards.

"What the hell is Belle doing?" rants Josh.

"She's going home" replies Diana.

"Home - where the hell is that!" shouts Josh.

"Beyond the stars" says Meg.

Dragonfly rises high into the clear sky, the last rays of the setting sun glinting off her golden wings - then she is gone.

"God speed, Belle" Cel says.

Twilight of the Buffies

Edisode 2: Too late to worry - too early to die
Written by Belle

Previously on Episode 1
"Come my friends, 'tis not too late to seek a newer world, to sail beyond the sunset, and the baths of all the western stars." - Ulysses by Tennyson

Belle finds the subway flooded and slowly she wades thru chest deep water towards the suburbs. Ahead of her she hears growling and the snapping of jaws - giant alligators are heading for the city, looking to feast on human flesh. The nearest lunges at Belle and she grabs it's jaws, forcing them open. Pushing her hand deep down its throat she pulls the creature inside out. The others make for it and start to bite out lumps of flesh. Belle slowly squeezes past them.

"Easy" she thinks.

At the last station, she climbs up the stopped escalator - at the top the entrance is blocked by tons of rubble. Belle strains to move the debris from the entrance, her biceps bulging, veins popping with the mass of blood flowing thru them, sweat dripping from her toned body - she lifts the blocks out one by one and throws them aside "Thank gawd we still have our strength left" she thinks. She hits the last blocks hard with blows from her strong fists and punches a hole big enough to crawl thru.

"Easy" she thinks.

As she emerges into the ruins of the suburbs, a bright light throws shadows along the street, but the horrid dark clouds seem to soak it up. She turns and sees a mushroom cloud rise from the nuclear power plant - this throws Kat into another tantrum, and fireballs are thrown far and wide from her gorgon head, pulverizing the remains of the city. "Better get a move on" thinks Belle.

Running thru the ruins she is soon at the edge of the burbs - crawling thru ditches and sewers she reaches the old airfield - she can see Shed 9 near the centre - keeping low she runs quickly into its shadows.

A corrugated tin door has a simple padlock holding it - Belle grabs the lock in one hand and squeezes, her forearm sinews ripple like cables and her arm muscles bulge - the lock is crushed and broken.

"Easy!" thinks Belle.

She slides the door open and steps inside - lights flash and alarms sound, but no one comes.

"Ah" thinks Belle - a pair of steel doors, 5 foot thick and weighing at least 50 tons each, stop her progress. Belle grabs one with both hands and strains to move it, her biceps bulge and her lats spread with the effort, the veins on her thick neck bulge inches out as her shoulders and arms put tons of pressure on the door - with a sound of grinding metal she squeezes it and as it crushes she lifts if off its hinges and throws it away.

"Easy" she thinks.

As she enters the room emergency lights flicker on and more alarms sound, but no one comes.

It floats in the middle of the room, making no noise, just a slight glow coming from its base.

"What on this earth can it be" thinks Belle . . . she walks all round it, looking for a door or a panel, but sees none. She runs her hand across the egg-like object . . .

' . . . belle . . .' a soft female voice says inside her head.

Belle jumps back with a fright, gripping her Claymore tight "Who is that, who is there?". No answer comes.

Belle feels the surface of the egg again . . .

' . . . belle . . . you are not like the others . . . ' the voice says.

Again Belle starts, but she is alone in the room with the egg. She runs her hand across it once more . . .

' . . . the others wanted to use my power . . . you are not like them i sense that . . . ' the voice says.

Belle feels more than sees images of unicorns and dragons, and the great City of Troy.

She puts her hand on the egg again "Who, or what, are you, why are you here?" she asks.

' i came to teach . . . ' the voice says.

"Teach - teach us what?" asks Belle.

' not to be afraid of the dark . . . i came here millennia ago, but my rider was killed . . . '

"Your rider?" asks Belle.

' without my rider i am not complete . . . many have tried to ride me . . . they all died . . . the choice was theirs . . .'

"What do you want of me?" Belle asks.

' i want to go home . . . ' the voice says.

"Home? Where is home?"

' beyond the stars . . . '

"Beyond the stars - sounds fun, but first I have friends in danger, I owe them a great favor, I must try and save them" says Belle.

' the choice is yours . . . '

They head towards the city and WildKat, Belle's blonde hair flowing in the slipstream, her Claymore gripped tightly, the dank air washing the dust off her naked muscular body as faster and faster they fly. "Gawd you are fast and nimble girl, I am going to call you Dragonfly" she thinks. Again she sees glimpses of unicorns and such. "What is that" she thinks.

' that is the past belle . . . i can take you there . . . '

A scene of devastation spreads out before Belle - columns of black smoke and ash rise into the sky from hundreds of fires, blocking out the sun, and lightning flickers in the dark clouds. As The Buffies huddle in the last ruins of the city, Kat searches for them tirelessly, tearing up streets and the remains of the buildings.

"Well that was our last card - we thought the nuclear blast would stop Kat, but it did nothing to her" Josh is saying.

"What's that" asks Diana - in the far distance a small bright diamond of light shimmers, growing slowly larger as it approaches from the direction of the old airfield. "It's Belle, it must be, it's Belle" shouts Josh.

"Girls, I guess Belle could do with a diversion, right now!" says Meg.

The Buffies begin their attack, their huge muscles straining and sinews stretching under their skin, they begin tearing girders from the remains of buildings and power poles to use as spears - they plunge them deep into Kat's legs and feet and throw them into her body, but they are less than pinpricks to the Kat.

Kat fires her beam and throws fireballs at them, the Buffies dodge and turn still attacking her with their bare hands trying to gain an advantage, throwing her off balance with their great strength maybe, or reaching her head to gouge out those green eyes.

Blows land on her from all sides, but Kat anticipates them and with her new found Buffie powers helping she grabs at her attackers with claws and teeth like sharpened steel and bites deep into Buffie flesh, ripping them apart - one by one they fall to her combined powers and greater strength.

Belle arrives to see the last of the Buffies.

Meg stands in a pile of torn-off limbs and lumps of meat, facing her tormentor. Kat's huge fist is brought down and Meg ducks to escape, but too late, Kat catches her a hard blow on the back. As she stumbles another blow smashes down on her, and Meg feels every bone in her body shatter. Another blow smashes her down into the road surface.

A giant foot thumps down and blood squirts out as Meg's muscle bound body is squashed flat like some human roadkill.

"Not easy" thinks Belle.

Belle circles wide over the blackened ruins of the once great city, and peering thru the gloom of the burning world, she lines up on WildKat. Belle grips her Claymore hard, her arms engorge with blood, her veins writhing under the skin like giant snakes as they pump it to her muscles. Deep breaths bring her pecs rising up hard like mountains of marble.

Kat turns her green eyes towards Belle, and her mouth slowly opens.

"Well girl, it's now, or it's never" Belle thinks.

Belle charges forward faster and faster through the air in her last attack against WildKat.

Twilight of the Buffies

Edisode 1: WildKat's Revenge
Written by Belle

At the mansion, The Buffies are on 'red alert' as reports come in of seismic activity in the deep ocean, and predictions of a possible tsunami hitting the coast. Josh is in contact with the White House, and all the news channels are on. "There is a chance that there will not be a tsunami tho' " Josh is saying "but if there is, it could take 6 hours to reach here".

Evacuation of the city is proceeding with only minor problems, on the news channel a father in a seafront property is saying "my ancestors came here 6 generations ago, we are not leaving our home, I don't believe the news reports, we will stick it out here, this is our family house and we are never leaving, for no one", he says, cradling a golden haired little girl in his arms.

"Your first priority, ladies, when or if the tsunami hits, is people, not property, property can be rebuilt, but if there is anyone left behind we must save them. Looks like this family could be a problem" Josh says.

The Buffies sit and wait it out, waiting and waiting for the wave to hit, if it ever comes.

"This is beginning to do my head in", says Belle "I'm going to have a wander round this mansion and see what is what".

"OK don't be too long, this is driving us all crazy" says Meg.

Belle wanders up stairs and along long corridors, looking in rooms where the strangest equipment and machines bubble or whir, lightning flashes from electric poles and spheres, rooms with banks of video screens that seem to cover everywhere and everything on the entire planet, even an egg is under observation.

A room full of ancient weapons and armor - this is more like it thinks Belle, and wanders in - swords and weapons of ancient wars fill the room, siege engines, mortars, artillery rockets, until her gaze sees something familiar - "Now that is more like it, a Claymore" thinks Belle, "the ancient 2-sided war sword of my people".

Belle walks across and lifts it off the wall "Wow it is certainly large, one of the biggest I have seen, but I can lift it easily with one hand". Belle starts to work the sword, its huge size makes it swings faster and faster, becoming more powerful with the mass behind it. "Oops" says Bell as she unintentionally demolishes a suit of armor. "Better move to the corridor, more space there" she thinks.

As Bell swings and plays with the giant war sword, she does not see behind her the video screens all starting to show the same picture, waves breaking on the seafront and a familiar but unwelcome figure rising from the water, at least 100 feet high and covered in armored scales . . .

"Shit" everyone shouts together as the images come in "it's WildKat!"

Belle wanders back down the corridors of the mansion, past the rooms with their strange equipment, the video screens all showing the same image, to the room where all the Buffies were - "Hey girls look what I found . . . " she says, 'What the???!!! where is everyone?' she thinks. On the news channels, pictures of a giant dark figure, barely human, rising from the waters and approaching the seafront "Shit" thinks Belle.

Heading straight for Kat, blonde hair blowing in the wind her honed body rippling with bulging muscle Belle grips her Claymore hard, the sun glinting off it, her arms engorged with blood, her veins writhing under the skin like giant snakes as they pump it to her muscles. Deep breaths bring her pecs rising up hard like mountains of marble.

But no scream comes - instead a beam of green light engulfs Belle who feels all the Buffie power drain from her - Kat shakes her gorgon head and sends out fireballs which engulf Belle.

Weakened, Belle falls down into the street, making a crater where her musclebound body hits like a wrecking ball. Picking herself up, she tries to fly at the Kat, but finds she cannot lift herself in the air. Brushing the ashes that were her clothes off, Belle runs at Kat, intent on stopping her reach the home at all costs.

Kat swiftly changes direction and with a few giant strides she is at the home before the Buffies - a giant foot smashes down on the property flattening it and killing everyone inside.

"Shit this is going to take all our powers" says Meg. "OK girls, lets do this" and she leads the Buffies in an all out charge on Kat.

Kat sends fireballs that feel like solid iron smashing into the Buffies, and her mouth opens as she turns the beam on them.

The Buffies attack hard and many strong arms hit Wildkat, their bones creaking and muscles straining as the Buffies land blow after blow. Kat's beam drains the Buffies of their powers - their weapons cease to function - fireballs fly from her gorgon head engulfing the Buffies and blasting the city demolishing and setting fire to more buildings - for a moment screams fill the air as queuing traffic is burnt with the occupants still inside.

A squadron of jet fighters arrives overhead.

Kat turns her attentions on them - she brushes off their missiles easily, shakes her head and fireballs smash into the aircraft, soon every one of them is sent crashing down in flames into the city, starting more fires.

Weapons useless, Diana grabs the base of a skyscraper, her biceps bulge, her thighs and quads ripple and her huge pecs squeeze together as she strains to lift it - steel beams snap like twigs as she lifts the building over her head, and throws it like a giant javelin at Wildkat. The building would hit Kat square in her huge chest, but she moves deftly out of the way without looking as it flies harmlessly past.

A platoon of National Guard arrive on the scene, and open fire on Kat with machine guns. They pepper her body with fire to no effect - Kat throws a tantrum and her fireballs hit the platoon, burning them alive and turning them to cinders.

Belle charges at WildKat and brings the Claymore down hard but Kat steps aside - the blade slices thru steel-like plated skin and tendons, and Belle cuts off Kat's little toe. Black burning blood flows but the Kat just moves on. "Crap how did she know what I was going to do" thinks Belle.

Taking her chance, Diana rushes out and drags the barely alive Buffies to the cover of one of the burnt-out buildings. Josh joins them - looking at the recovering Buffies, their clothes burnt off, the sweat running in rivers over their bronzed bodies washing the dust and ash off and showing their ripped, toned bulging muscles and pounding chests, he wonders how long his girls can hold out. Something attracts Kat's attention, and she moves off across the ruins.

"That was tough" says Meg.

"I thought I had her, but she anticipated my action and moved aside" says Diana.

"I have been here before, in a dream" says Belle "I know what is happening". The Buffies look at her. "In my dream, I had it after the last encounter with WildKat, I dreamt I was the Kat and was chasing myself thru the ruins. I never told anyone, but now I know what it means. The Kat has become us!".

What!!!!! everyone screams.

"Are you sure" asks Meg.

"Yes, I think the beam has robbed us of our Buffie powers, the way she anticipated our moves suggests she can read our minds, or at least think like us" says Belle.

"This is very serious if it is true, it makes her a more formidable foe" says Josh.

"The Whale and the Tiger are extinct, why not us?" Belle asks.

"She does not seem to have any Buffie powers yet" says Meg.

"Maybe it's too much for her to take in, she does not know how to use them, yet" Belle says.

"If she learns to use your powers we are in serious trouble" Josh says.

"Imagine if she could fly, be invisible, shape shift like us - or like we could" says Diana.

"Well we still have our muscles and strength, that must count for something" Meg says.

"How do you fight yourself - if she thinks like us" asks Diana.

"You have no weapons we can use against her, and I can't kill her by cutting off one toe at a time - there must be something we can get?" asks Belle.

"There is something that might be used" Josh says.

"Well for gawds sake what" asks Meg.

"The Government gave us an 'object' a while ago, Object Rama, it was found in a cave in Afghanistan, they could do nothing with it so they thought we could help. It is supposed to contain great power, according to legend, but we have not been able to do anything with it either. It's stored in a shed on the disused airfield, Shed 9" says Josh.

"Bags I get it - anyway I am the only one left with a weapon" says Belle.

"OK" says Josh "let's get moving - Nic and I need to get to the nuclear power plant. Belle, you will have to follow the subway to the suburbs and then make your way over open ground."

A cold wind blows and black rain starts to fall as they leave cover and head off on their quests - Belle heads for the subway system and the Buffies for the power plant.
